"Messinaservizi Bene Comune's commitment to the organisation of door-to-door waste collection in Messina continues. From Monday 15 June, the service will be extended to the whole of zone 3 of the Southern Area, from Contesse to Villaggio Aldisio, in particular in the villages or hamlets of Contesse, Unrra, Cep Minissale, Rione Taormina and Aldisio; and in zone 3 of the Northern Area, thus completing the whole of Via Panoramica dello Stretto, Annunziata Alta, Viale Anunziata, San Licandro, Contrada Citola, Viale della Libertà up to Borgo del Ringo, and Piazza Castronovo". This was said by the president of Messinaservizi Bene Comune Giuseppe Lombardo, who added:" We will start on Sunday 14 June by conferring the wet waste at the scheduled times, from 9pm to 5am, in both areas. We would like to remind you with regard to the delivery of glass or paper that the residents of these new areas will have to align themselves with what is expected in their areas and therefore, as early as Monday evening 15 June for Tuesday, residents of the North Area will have to deliver paper in the blue bins/trays; residents of the South Area glass in the green bins/trays. In addition, for subsequent times, on our site www.messinaservizibenecomune.en you will always find the updated calendar for the weekly delivery of glass and paper, as well as every Monday you will also know what to deliver by consulting our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Telegram pages. On the http://www.messinafadifferenza.it/, you will also find the complete calendars of the different Areas with the materials to be conferred, on a daily basis". "At the moment," Lombardo went on to say, "only residents and condominium administrators of the new Area 3 zones North and South, who have not yet received the kit, can call 333 6154097 to arrange an appointment and delivery method. By the end of the month," President Lombardo concluded, "thanks to the hiring of all 100 ecological operators, we will also complete Zone 4 and thus the entire North Area and South Area of the city. They are some of the most densely populated areas of the city, and it was not easy to get to this point. This is a great result in a short time and with delays not due to the company but to bureaucratic problems with recruitment and the Covid 19 emergency. With the current data, Messina already confirms itself as the Sicilian metropolitan city with the highest percentage of differentiated waste collection. These results are not questionable, but the concrete realisation of the municipal administration's programme. We will thus soon reach two-thirds of the city and serve over160,000 people and expect to complete everything after the summer. We ask for more cooperation from citizens, shopkeepers and property managers, everyone must realise that this is a momentous change for our city. We want a waste collection service that is efficient, environmentally sustainable, and socially appropriate to the new needs that society demands.
