The first cycle of the summer disinfestation campaign planned by Messinaservizi Bene Comune throughout the city, in accordance with the service contract, ended on 9 and 10 June. The interventions, which began in recent weeks and were articulated according to a cyclic calendar, covered the southern, central, and northern areas of the city in a capillary manner.
Tomorrow, Monday 9 June, from 9 pm, the operators will intervene in the south area in the Altolia, Molino, Giampilieri, Giampilieri Marina, Pezzolo, Briga Superiore and Briga Marina districts. On the same evening, in the city centre area, operations will focus on Gravitelli and the council houses, via Padre Nino Trovato and via Pietra Santa, Valle degli Angeli, Piazzetta Palmara, via del Santo, and will continue in the area of the Ospedale Piemonte square and Messina 2.
On Tuesday 10 June, again starting at 9 p.m., the programme will touch on Santo Stefano di Briga, Santa Margherita Paese, Santa Margherita Lungomare, Ponte Schiavo, Runci, Santa Margherita Marina, Galati Santa Lucia, Galati Sant'Anna and Galati Marina in the southern area. In the city centre area, disinfestation will affect the Camaro San Paolo, Camaro San Luigi, Camaro Superiore, Mito, via Polveriera, Bisconte, Cataratti and Fondo Pugliatti districts.
These two days complete the first cycle of interventions, but the pest control activity will continue with subsequent cycles throughout the summer months.
Citizens are once again urged to observe the usual recommendations during the operations: avoid outdoor exposure of food and clothing, shelter pets, close windows and balconies, and thoroughly wash fruit and vegetables grown in urban gardens and vegetable gardens. In the event of adverse weather conditions, the schedule may be subject to change.
